THE ARTISAN FACILITATOR · A 5-DAY FACILITATOR TRAINING PROGRAMME
Facilitation is a craft, not a script.
At Tidal, we believe all people deserve to remember and fulfil their best selves. That potential is usually already there, hidden behind stress, structure or self-doubt. A great facilitator creates the conditions of safety, curiosity and challenge where it can come through.
We don’t see facilitators as experts who fix. We see them as partners who walk alongside: people who can hold a room with warmth and steadiness, ask the bold question, and help groups surface what has been hidden and name what has been avoided.
This five-day programme develops that craft. It blends structure with soul and frameworks with intuition, so you leave able to design and deliver learning experiences that are intentional, immersive and deeply human.
YOUR FACILITATORS
Learn from practitioners, not presenters.
You’ll be trained by Tidal’s senior associate pool, a team of psychologists, executive coaches and organisational development specialists who facilitate for leaders and teams across Africa, the Middle East, Europe and North America. Between them, they have spent many years in the room with boards, executive teams, frontline leaders and global organisations. They are accredited in tools such as Heartstyles and Insights.
They have faced the silent room, the resistant executive and the session that went sideways, and they bring those real stories, hard-won lessons and practical wisdom into every day of the programme. You will learn what works in practice, not just in theory.
WHO IT’S FOR
- HR, L&D and OD professionals who lead workshops and training sessions
- Internal coaches, consultants and change agents
- Leaders who want to run better meetings, offsites and team conversations
- Experienced facilitators ready to deepen their mastery
WHAT WE COVER
The facilitator’s self
Presence, character, and how your own stress and pressure patterns show up in the room.
How adults learn
Why transformation comes from insight, reflection and repetition rather than information alone, and how to design for real behaviour change.
Delivering learning
Explaining ideas clearly, using stories and examples, checking understanding, and helping people turn insight into action.
Session design
Turning a brief into clear outcomes, choosing the right methods, and protecting depth when time and attention are short.
Using slides well
Building simple, visual decks that support your message instead of replacing it, and presenting without reading from the screen.
Mastering the flipchart
Writing and drawing clearly, capturing group thinking live, and using the flipchart to build ideas with the room.
Reading the room
Group dynamics, team development stages, psychological safety and the unstated agreements that shape behaviour.
Listening deeply and asking bold questions
Questions that open thinking, and listening for what sits beneath the words.
Holding tension and truth
Working with conflict, silence, resistance and strong emotion with grace and steadiness.
Including others thoughtfully
Honouring the unique person in every seat and making space for every voice.
Energy and engagement
Managing pace, group work, energisers and the post-lunch slump.
Virtual and hybrid facilitation
Keeping people connected and engaged when they’re not in the same room.
Debriefing and sense-making
Turning experience into insight and insight into commitment.
Growing your mastery
Reflection, feedback and the practices that keep a facilitator learning for life.
HOW IT FEELS
We want every participant to leave feeling seen, stretched and supported.
Our training is built on the same values we bring to all our work:
People
We begin with empathy and end with empowerment.
Learning
We are always in process, always open, always evolving.
Relationships
Change happens in connection, dialogue and trust.
You’ll experience a space where vulnerability and imperfection are welcome parts of learning, where mastery means conscious growth rather than perfectionism, and where progress is celebrated generously.
WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH
- A clear understanding of your own facilitation style, strengths and blind spots
- Practical tools for designing and delivering learning that creates lasting change
