A MONTHLY COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE

Our Book Club

Think together. Reflect together. Grow together.

A deliberate, values-led space for Tidal-affiliated executive coaches, facilitators and leadership development practitioners. It’s a book club, but not a traditional book club. It is a practice — a visible expression of how we learn, how we think, and how we steward depth in our field.

WHY THIS SPACE MATTERS

More than new tools. Space to think.

Leaders and organisations are navigating sustained uncertainty, emotional fatigue, systemic pressure and shifting expectations around authority, belonging, identity and meaning. Familiar models and technical competence are no longer sufficient on their own.

We need spaces to process what we are seeing and refine our inner stance as we accompany others through change. Rooted in Tidal’s belief that all people deserve to remember and fulfil their best selves, Our Book Club strengthens the foundations of our work: judgement, discernment, humanity and mastery.

Practice without reflection risks becoming mechanical. Reflection without community risks becoming insular.

Books are a starting point, not a boundary. Peer-reviewed research, essays, lectures and practitioner reflections all belong here. The diversity of perspectives brought by the community is the curriculum.

The spirit of Our Book Club

Curiosity over certainty

Questions matter more than conclusions.

Humanity over performance

We arrive as practitioners and people.

Depth over breadth

Fewer ideas, explored more meaningfully.

Generosity over debate

We build on each other’s thinking rather than compete with it.

HOW WE GATHER

Bring what feels alive in your work.

Each monthly gathering combines a check-in, concise member contributions and shared conversation. Participants bring a book, paper, article or piece of writing pertinent to understanding people in teams and organisations.

Prepare a 10-minute essence of your material: what stood out, why it matters and how it connects to your practice. What matters most is not completeness, but the thinking it opens up.

Arrive prepared, speak from reflection and experience, listen deeply, and remain open to being influenced, challenged and changed. Confidentiality and psychological safety are central to the space.

Then we slow down and think together.

  • What does this help us see more clearly?
  • What patterns are emerging across what we’re reading?
  • How might this shape how we show up in our work?

This is shared inquiry rather than a performance of expertise — learning in relationship with trusted peers.

CONVERSATIONS FROM 2026

What we’ve been exploring

Ideas from our reading, the tensions they raised and the questions we carried back into practice. These highlights share the learning, not the personal stories entrusted to the group.
